Reception Class Blog – This Term’s Learning Adventure

What a wonderful and busy term it has been in Reception! The children have enjoyed exploring a range of exciting themes and activities as we continue to learn about the world around us.
🍁 Exploring Autumn
We began the term by noticing the changes that happen as summer becomes autumn. The children observed falling leaves, changing colours and cooler weather. They enjoyed talking about the signs of autumn and taking part in a variety of seasonal activities.

🎉 Celebrations and Fireworks Night
We learned about different celebrations that happen at this time of year, including Fireworks Night. The children loved creating colourful firework artwork and discussing how to stay safe while watching fireworks.

🌺 Painting Poppies to Remember
As part of our learning about Remembrance, Reception painted beautiful poppies. This gave us the opportunity to talk gently about remembering people who help keep us safe and the importance of peaceful choices.

🧑🚒 People Who Help Us
Another exciting topic was People Who Help Us. We shared the story All Through the Night, which helped us think about the important jobs people do while we are asleep. The children discussed bedtime routines and learnt about the different ways grown-ups help our community every day.

🔢 Counting and Phonics Fun
We have continued to build our number skills through counting games, practical activities and problem-solving. In phonics, the children have been working hard to learn lots of new sounds and begin blending for reading. We are so proud of the progress they are making!
