Ladybirds Class Update – A Wintery Start to the New Year! β„οΈπŸž

We’ve had a lovely start to the new year in Ladybirds and have been busy exploring lots of exciting learning together.

This term we began by looking closely at winter. We read the storyΒ Jack FrostΒ and talked about the changes we notice during the colder months. The children then went on a winter walk, where they used their fantastic observing skills to spot interesting wintery features in our surroundings. There were lots of thoughtful discussions about what we could see and feel, and the children were very enthusiastic explorers!

We have also been learning about our own personal history. The children enjoyed looking at themselves as babies and talking about what babies need to grow and stay healthy. We compared this with what we need now that we are at school, noticing how much we have grown and how independent we are becoming. It was a lovely chance for the children to share their experiences and celebrate how special they are.

We were also very excited to have a visit from the Kent Fire Brigade, who came to talk to us about fire safety. The children remembered so much from our previous trip to the fire station and were keen to share their knowledge. They listened carefully, answered questions confidently, and showed a great understanding of how to stay safe.

In maths, we have been focusing on numbers to 5. The children have been building numbers in different ways using a variety of resources and exploring the patterns that numbers can make. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explain their thinking and recognise numbers in different forms.

We are so proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity the children continue to show and are really looking forward to all the learning still to come this term. Thank you for your continued support 🌟
