Dormouse class are enjoying continuing their topic, ‘Bright Lights Big City’. In English we have been reading books about Paddington, and learning all about his adventures in London. We have read lots of non-fiction books about London, identifying different landmarks in the capital city and using our observational drawing skills to draw Big Ben. We have been using the positional language we learnt in geography to write instructions for how to get from one landmark to another, and how to help Paddington find his way around London!
In Maths we have been thinking more about addition and subtraction and different ways of doing these. We have also been thinking about related facts, and finding the inverse. Eg. 2+3=5 is the same as 3+2=5 which also means that we can know 5-2=3 and 5-3=2. More recently we have moved on to exploring numbers up to 50, using number lines and creating our own in the playground.
Dormouse Class are looking forward to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) week, where we will be learning about paper sculptures. We are looking forward to sharing our work with you at the end of the week.
We have loved PE this term as we have had great fun doing DRUMBA! Drumba is a high-energy, full-body fitness program that combines aerobics with drumming and is designed to improve physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. We have also been continuing our gymnastics work, building on our learning from last term and creating sequences of movements.
Our topic in RE is ‘Salvation’. We have been learning about the Easter story. We have been thinking about how this influences the way Christians celebrate Easter today, and how the stories in the Bible effect their lives.
PSHE this term has been thinking about ‘Healthy Me’. We have been talking about making healthy choices, staying clean, being safe with medicines and some road safety too.
In Art we have created collagraph prints based on the theme ‘Rain and Sunrays’. We made our own printing blocks, using lots of different textures, and then used them to make single and repeated prints.
