SATs
In year 6, we have been busy preparing for our KS2 SATs test. We have been working through a selection of past papers whilst also focusing on the year 6 curriculum to ensure everything is covered.
Topic
We are thoroughly enjoying our new History topic: ‘Britain at War’. The children have been very enthusiastic throughout our opening sessions. Some children have come to school and shared interesting family stories and artefacts relating to the war. This week, we have written non-chronological report explaining the various causes of World War 1 (WW1). We will continue to look at WW1 this term before moving on to learn about World War 2 next term.
Science
In science we have been learning about light. We have looked at how light travels as well as exploring how our eyes enable us to see things.
Reading
We have started a new class novel. ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo is a classic tale which links very well with our war topic. The children have enjoyed the first few chapters of the text; familiarising themselves with a new set of characters and themes.
