Ladybird Class – Term 5 Blog 🐞
Welcome back to another exciting term in Ladybird Class! Term 5 has been full of energy and enthusiasm, and we are so proud of the children’s progress.
Our topic this term has been Animal Safari. We have also just started reading The Ugly Five and will be learning about animals that live in the savannah. We began with Bog Baby, creating our own creatures and learning how to care for them. We also explored animal life cycles, including ladybirds, caterpillars, and frogs, and enjoyed The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
In literacy, the children have been practising phonics, blending sounds, and writing simple sentences with growing confidence.
In maths, we have focused on counting to 20 and understanding how numbers are made (e.g. 7 = 5 + 2).
We’ve enjoyed painting, mini-beast crafts, and imaginative play. Outdoor learning has included exploring signs of spring and going on mini-beast hunts.
The children have grown in confidence and independence, showing kindness, teamwork, and excellent sharing skills.
